Why Not Robbery Suspects Arrested
Grants Pass police have arrested Joel Nathan Paz, 31, of 1860 Rogue River Highway, and Alec Thomas Imel, 19, a transient on multiple charges stemming from the armed robber of the Why Not Market late last Sunday night.
During that robbery, two men entered the store and attacked the employee behind the counter, one of them striking the clerk on the head with a club while the other brandished a handgun. They then took the cash register and fled. The clerk was treated at the hospital.
The robbery was captured on video with the images distributed to law enforcement agencies, causing Josephine County Community Corrections to have detectives focus on Paz.
Surveillance was conducted at Paz’s residence and at 5:12 Thursday afternoon Paz and Imel were contacted at the residence where evidence linking them to the robbery was discovered.
Both are lodged in jail facing charges of 1st and 2nd degree robbery, 3rd degree assault, 2nd degree theft and possession of meth. Paz is also being held on a probation violation.
