Authorities Search for Possible Drowning Victim
The Grants Pass Department of Public Safety in conjunction with the Josephine County Search and Rescue Dive Team are searching the Rogue River after multiple reports of a young man jumping over the railing of the Debb Potts Memorial Bridge Friday night at around 10:20.
At that time a Police officer was flagged down on the bridge regarding a subject that had allegedly jumped over the railing. Another citizen called 911 just before the officer had been flagged down saying they had actually seen a young man jump over the railing.
A black Huffy Santa Fe mountain bike, along with the male’s blue jeans, green long sleeve shirt, leather sandals and a yellow Bic lighter were left at the scene.
The possible victim is described as a 16 to 20-year-old male, 5-8 to 5-10, with a thin build and black hair.
Officers, fire personnel and the marine deputy searched the river banks and found no sign of anyone or any indication someone had climbed out of the river.
At this time it is unknown if someone jumped in an attempt to harm themselves, or did it as an adventure. Anyone with information should contact the department of public safety at 541-450-6260.
