Chinese Restriction on Recycled Plastic Does Not Cancel Plastic Roundup
The annual plastic roundup in Jackson County scheduled for October will move forward in spite of Chinese restrictions on the importing of recycled material.
The Chinese began stronger enforcement of its restrictions on imports of dirty and contaminated recyclables.
The plastic roundup will take place primarily because of the participation of local Master Recyclers to ensure higher quality and better sorted plastics are accepted.
Only clean, pre-sorted plastics will be accepted. Items not accepted include Styrofoam, above ground swimming pools and liners, dirty or food contaminated plastics, coolers, rubber gloves, containers with chemical residue, compostable plastic and plastic with metal or electronics.
The roundup is scheduled for October 25th and 26th at the Jackson County Expo in Central Point.
