Medford P.D. Arrest 53-Year-Old Woman after She Crashed into Police Car and Eluded Authorities
Lauri Lee Story, 53, of Tracy, California was arrested in Medford last night after crashing into a police car and leading authorities on two different chases.
At 8:44 last night officers were called to the Crater Lake Highway Fred Meyer to the report of a reckless driver in the parking lot yelling bizarre statements as she careened through the lot.
An attempted traffic stop near the gas pumps failed as the errant driver tried to escape, at one point crashing into a police car causing minor damage and eventually fleeing south on Poplar Drive. That pursuit was discontinued because of the danger it posed.
Later, at 10:47, the vehicle was spotted pulling into the Circle K at Riverside and Barnett. Again a traffic stop was attempted and again the suspect fled. Officers deployed a spike strip that flattened all four tires bringing the vehicle to a stop on Center Drive near Stewart Avenue.
Ms. Story was highly agitated and uncooperative forcing officers to deploy a Taser, which was effective in subduing the woman.
She is charged with attempting to elude, Reckless driving and endangering, hit and run, and disorderly conduct. Her bail is $55,000.
