Jackson County Contemplates Non-Partisan Commission
The Jackson County Board of Commissioners is considering making Board positions non-partisan. A ballot measure passed by voters would be necessary for that to happen.
Should the measure make it to the May 2014 ballot and is passed, Jackson Countyís home rule charter would be amended to make commissioner positions non-partisan by the May 2016 primary election.
Chair of the Jackson County Board, Don Skundrick, who is not running for re-election, supports the change saying that was the second most asked question during his 2010 campaign.
23 of Oregonís 36 counties, including Josephine, have non-partisan elections for commissioners.
