County and city unite for economic development
The Josephine County Commissioners met in a joint meeting today with the Grants Pass City Council during their Monday workshop to discuss the Joint Economic Development Strategic Plan.

The plan began in drafting stages between county and city staff as well as the county commissioners and the basis of the plan examines the interconnectivity of economic development created by the state, regional and industrial influences. The regional group would include the county, city, the chamber and other tourism organizations and local businesses in order to encourage companies to relocate their operating centers to Josephine County.

City Manager Aaron Cubic says the next step is for all groups to develop a strategic plan so Josephine County could draw businesses to the area and away from other southern Oregon counties.

Both sides also decided their respective staffs needed to draft parameters for the Allen Creek Road Project so the Oregon Department of Transportation can start the planning phase and the next phase of the city’s Urban Growth Boundary is to update map boundaries and focus.
