Deputies Jailed GP Man for Allegedly Beating Up Girlfriend on Demaray Drive
The Josephine County Sheriff's Office jailed a Grants Pass man for allegedly beating up his girlfriend late last week.
The Sheriff's Office reports deputies responded to a domestic disturbance in the 2900-block of Demaray Drive on Friday morning.
Deputies said a woman called 9-1-1 to report her boyfriend -- 24-year-old Joshua Ryan Delacruz -- punched her in the face and threw her down on the ground while arguing about him cheating on her. The woman declined medical attention and told dispatchers she was driving to the nearest gas station.
Deputies contacted Delacruz at his house and he initially advised them that the incident was only a verbal disagreement. He eventually admitted to pushing his girlfriend, but denied anything more. He had some scratches on him, but wouldn't tell them how they occurred because he "did not want to get her in trouble."
Based on the investigation, deputies placed Delacruz into custody. He was lodged at the Josephine County Jail for Felony 4th-Degree Domestic Assault, Felony Domestic Strangulation, Menacing and the resulting Felony Parole Violation. He was being held on a no-bail detainer.
