Grants Pass police officers and firefighters worked diligently to protect citizens and structures last week.
According to the Weekly Report filed by Grants Pass City Manager Aaron Cubic, police officers responded to a total of 564 calls for service along with 305 officer-initiated calls last week that resulted in 33 arrests, 35 citations, 77 warnings and eight highly-intoxicated people being lodged at the Sobering Center.
Cubic also reported that officers conducted a total of 97 traffic stops in the city and they made 21 referrals to the Oregon Department of Human Services (DHS). In addition, there were five drug overdoses in the city and three deflection referrals.
The GPPD Community Response Team (CRT) made contact with 13 potential troublemakers while arresting three people, citing five more and warning five others. The CRT unit also trespassed three individuals from homes and businesses.
Grants Pass Fire & Rescue responded to a total of 86 calls last week including 29 for emergency medical service, three for reports of fire or smoke, eight lift assists, four rescue situations, five assists to other agencies and six false alarms. Crews also performed 17 business inspections, led six education/prevention programs, assisted the public seven times and properly installed seven child car seats.
The Grants Pass 9-1-1 Communications Center fielded a total of 1,056 emergency calls in addition to 692 calls for non-emergency service.
