GPPD Investigation into Suspicious Activity Led to Arrest of Man on Warrant
A Grants Pass Police Department investigation of suspicious activity led to the arrest of a man on an outstanding warrant early yesterday.
The Police Department reports officers responded to the incident at a home in the 300-block of NW 3rd Street on Wednesday shortly after 4 a.m..
Police said the resident called 9-1-1 to report a couple with a dog ringing their doorbell and asking if it was their dog. The caller believed it was a scam and the couple left on foot toward I Street. The caller wanted officers to check the area.
A short time later, officers contacted 42-year-old William Lee Asbury and discovered that he was wanted on a Grants Pass warrant for failing to appear in court for 2nd-Degree Theft. He was lodged at the Josephine County Jail.
According to GPPD, Asbury's female companion was not arrested.
