JoCo Sheriff's Office Apprehend Man on Warrant after Vehicle Chase

Josephine County Sheriff's Office deputies apprehended a man after an unusual vehicle chase Thursday afternoon.

Officers laid down a spike strip in order to stop the suspect, Sean Wylie, as he was leaving Shop Smart in Cave Junction. He was driving a black truck with a flatbed trailer attached, and was known to have a warrant out for his arrest.

The spikes were successful against Wylie's right rear and flatbed tires, but he continued to try and elude officers at 20 to 30 miles per hour. Straddling southbound Rockydale Road, it appeared Wylie was attempting to prevent law enforcement from passing.

Wylie lost his rear axle, smoking and sparking in the process, before he went off the road 15 feet down an embankment. After winching the truck and trailer out, officers took him into custody.

Wylie was lodged in the Josephine County Jail for his Oregon State Parole Board Felony Warrant for Second Degree Assault, as well as new charges of Meth Possession, and two counts of Attempt to Elude Police.
