Pedestrian Struck and Killed by Vehicle near Central Point Late Saturday Night
A pedestrian is dead after being struck by a car over the weekend in the Central Point area.
The Jackson County Sheriff's Office reports Emergency Communications of Southern Oregon received a call on Saturday at 11:30 p.m. for a pedestrian struck by a motor vehicle in the 400-block of Wilson Road.
Deputies responded along with Jackson County Fire District #3 and Mercy Flights. The patient was pronounced deceased at the scene around 11:44 p.m.. Next of kin was notified. The deceased was identified as 35-year-old Omar Salas Ibarra of Central Point.
Initial reports indicate a woman driving a black 1998 Honda Civic traveling east on Wilson Road struck Ibarra while he was attempting to cross the street. No criminal charges have been filed against the driver at this time.
The case is under investigation by the Serious Traffic Accident Reconstruction (STAR) Team.
