Deputies Snared Woman on State Felony Warrant after Shop Smart Disturbance
The Josephine County Sheriff's Office apprehended a woman wanted on a statewide felony warrant while investigating a disturbance at a Cave Junction supermarket early yesterday.
The Sheriff's Office reports deputies were alerted to the incident involving 51-year-old Shannon Leann Petersen at Shop Smart on West Watkins Street on Wednesday shortly after 7 a.m..
Deputies said the store manager called 9-1-1 to report a female subject screaming in the parking lot about her trailer being stolen by the Sheriff's Office. They said the woman had been sitting in a disabled Jeep Liberty in the store parking lot while harassing shoppers and the manager wanted her trespassed from the business.
Upon arrival, deputies identified the woman as Petersen and discovered that she was wanted on a Coffee Creek Correctional Facility felony warrant for Parole Violation stemming from a conviction for 2nd-Degree Burglary. She was placed into custody, transported to Grants Pass and lodged in jail on a no-bail detainer.
Deputies pushed her female companion's Jeep out of the store parking lot, gave her two $10 gift cards for gasoline and called Jerry's Towing to give her a jump start so she could leave the area;.
