Troopers Nabbed 3 Motorists for DUII after New Year's Holiday Traffic Stops

The Oregon State Police arrested three motorists for impaired driving after New Year's Eve and New Year's Day traffic stops in Josephine County.

According to OSP, the first incident occurred on Tuesday at 11:20 p.m. when troopers pulled over a Honda CRV driven by a 43-year-old Gasquet, California, woman near milepost 34 of Redwood Highway. Troopers said they stopped the vehicle for a traffic violation and the driver showed signs of impairment. They said she performed poorly in sobriety tests and was taken to the Cave Junction substation where she was charged with Driving Under the Influence of Intoxicants. Her vehicle was impounded.

The second incident happened on Wednesday at 1:03 a.m. when troopers pulled over a Toyota 4-Runner driven by a 30-year-old Grants Pass man near the corner of NW 6th and Savage streets. Troopers said they stopped the vehicle for a traffic violation and the driver showed signs of impairment. Further signs of impairment were observed during sobriety tests, so the suspect was taken to the Grants Pass Sobering Center where he was charged with DUII and Reckless Driving. The vehicle was turned over to a sober driver at the request of the owner.

The third incident took place on Wednesday at 9:25 p.m. when troopers pulled over a Nissan XTerra driven by a 37-year-old Medford man near milepost 65 of southbound Interstate 5. Troopers said they stopped the vehicle for two violations and the driver displayed signs of impairment. They said the driver performed poorly in sobriety tests and he was taken to the Sobering Center where he provided a breath sample that was nearly twice the legal driving limit. He was charged with DUII and his vehicle was impounded.
