Josephine County Search & Rescue Academy Seeks to Train Local Volunteers

The Josephine County Sheriff's Office is preparing to host its annual Search and Rescue (SAR) Academy later this month.

The Search & Rescue Division will be holding its annual Academy to train new SAR volunteers from February 18th through March 15th at 250 Tech Way in the North Valley Industrial Park.

The Academy covers Basic Survival Skills, First Aid/CPR, Land Navigation and more. Course completion qualifies attendees as Search and Rescue volunteers.

Cost for the Academy is $55. Additional requirements include a background check, criminal history check and personal equipment purchase.

The Academy runs Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 6-9 p.m., and Saturdays from 8 a.m.-5 p.m.. The application deadline is Monday, February 17th.
