State Police Reinforce Phone Scam Warning
The Oregon State Police continue to inform the citizenry their agency does not call individuals and demand money in exchange for dropping criminal charges or clearing arrest warrants.
Within the last week men with foreign accents have been calling, claiming to be a trooper or sheriff’s deputy, making demands for money including at least one call to a Talent resident.
The court system sometimes use an independent collection service to collect unpaid monetary judgments or fines. Legitimate callers will have a court case number, date of ticket, vehicle license, location of the violation and other details related to an outstanding citation.
Anyone who believes they have been called by a scammer should disconnect without providing any information and contact their local law enforcement agency.
