Medford Council Tasks Advisory Committee to find Ways to Deal with Dangerous Dogs.
The Medford Council voted unanimously Thursday to task the Police Advisory Committee with finding ways to deal with dangerous dogs in Medford.
Pit-bull supporters heard mixed messages over the issue of breed specific bans. Mayor Gary Wheeler said a breed-specific ban was not on the table.
Other councilors want all the options left open with Councilor Tim Jackle saying they have no preconceived notion of where this issue is going.
The Police advisory committee will hold public hearings to seek suggestions on ways to deal with dangerous dogs and their owners. The council wants a proactive means of law enforcement to deal with the problem.
The council has asked for recommendations by April.
