Jacksonville council rejects residentís survey proposal
The Jacksonville City Council have rejected a proposition by a resident who requested the council insert a survey in the cityís water bills regarding citizenís opinions on whether money should be spent to outfit the fire station to make it seismically sound or to upgrade the old Jackson County Courthouse to become the new city hall.

Jacksonville received the courthouse last year from Jackson County and Mayor Paul Becker has been urging the citizenís to turn the building into the city hall but resident Hal McAlister says citizens have wanted their fire station to receive a seismic upgrade for over a decade.

McAlister says whether or not the city will turn the old courthouse into city hall is a foregone conclusion.
