Merlin Hunter Sued by Wounded Boy’s Family
A Merlin man, Darren D. Green, 47, who shot at a deer two years ago and wounded a boy at a nearby school-bus stop has been sued by the family of Ulises Hernandez, who was 10-years-old at the time.
The suit, filed last week in Josephine County Circuit Court, claims Green acted with reckless and outrageous indifference to a highly unreasonable risk of harm, and is asking for $270,000 in damages.
Hernandez was waiting at the bus stop at Russell and Hartsfield roads on October 26th, 2011 when a bullet, fired by Green at a deer in the front part of his property less than 100 yards from the bus stop, struck his lower leg.
Green was convicted of negligent wounding after pleading guilty to the charge in January of 2012.
