Interim fair manager makes plea to commissioners and public for funds to hold 100-year fair
Josephine County Interim Fair Manager Mary Groves addressed the Josephine County Board of Commissioners during their Wednesday business session on the status of the fairgrounds while making a plea to the public for funds to hold the 100th Josephine County Fair.

Groves gave a rundown of the 2013 fair demonstrating the fair brought in approximately $454,000 from paid gate receipts, livestock auction and carnival. Total expenses for the fair were $408,000 leaving a net profit of $46,000. For the 100-year-anniversary fair Groves has acquired $50,000 from the state, $214,000 from interim operations, $146,000 from other events, $196,000 from the county and $20,000 from economic development. The fairgrounds need $200,000 from the public in order to hold the next fair.
